Continuing a Legacy
Since its inception, FOMA has supported the annual bird count effort on Midway, and in many years, our members have directly participated in-person on the counts.
Over the last 15 years, including pledged support for the upcoming counts at the end of this year, FOMA has contributed over $80,000 in support of the annual census. These funds have purchased equipment needed for the counts, covered meal costs for all of the counters (12 to 18 people a year), and even flight costs for team leaders—on occasion.
This year, FOMA has committed $9,000 to bird counter meals and $6,500 to be paid to offset new flight costs. With our new fundraiser, FOMA is inviting your help to raise our first $3,000 by the end of September. Your generous contribution will go toward FOMA’s bird counter fund and help continue the legacy of the last 15 years. To donate directly toward the fundraiser, click here.
