Flying in from across the Pacific Ocean and the Hawaiian archipelago, mature feathered kōlea (Pacific golden-plover) gather in mass on a roof top to prepare for a miraculous non-stop flight of over 3,000 miles in just 3 to 4 days.
Let's hope they get plenty to eat and drink on Kuaihelani (Midway Atoll) before they lift off to their formerly chosen nest site in Siberia or western Alaska!
